On May 14, 2020, the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, notified the Telemedicine Practice Guidelines (TPG) to standardize and regulate telemedicine services in India. These guidelines require all registered medical practitioners (RMPs) who intend to provide online consultations to be well-versed with the process, limitations, and principles of telemedicine practice.

As per TPG 1.3.3 (https://esanjeevani.mohfw.gov.in/assets/guidelines/Telemedicine_Practice_Guidelines.pdf), it is mandatory for all RMPs to complete an online certification course on telemedicine within three years of the guidelines' notification.

The importance of these guidelines has grown significantly, especially following the widespread adoption of teleconsultations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Telemedicine Society of India (TSI), a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting telehealth as a key element of universal, affordable healthcare, has played a pivotal role in training practitioners. During the COVID-19 pandemic, TSI trained over 3,500 doctors on the Telemedicine Practice Guidelines through high-quality online courses, receiving excellent feedback.

Doctorguru, a subsidy of MedIndia supported TSI in development and delivery of these courses and currently continues to offer these courses, delivered by experienced TSI faculty.

Course Highlights:

  1. Registration & Course Materials
Upon registration and payment, participants will receive login credentials and an e-book containing the Telemedicine Practice Guidelines issued by the Ministry, along with a comprehensive FAQ section.
  2. Preparation for the Course
It is recommended that participants review the guidelines and FAQs before beginning the video lectures to maximize learning outcomes.
  3. Video Lectures & Communication Skills
The course includes video lectures designed not only to enhance understanding of telemedicine but also to improve communication skills for effective teleconsultations.
  4. Interactive Sessions with Experts
Participants will have the opportunity to engage in an hour-long interactive session with the faculty on select weekends (Saturday or Sunday). These sessions aim to clarify doubts and provide expert guidance on telemedicine practices.
By completing this course, practitioners can stay compliant with the regulations while ensuring they provide safe, effective, and professional teleconsultation services.
